Yarn peep show

I thought I'd tell you a bit more about my sockpal-yarn; here's a close-up.

As you can see, it's a 4ply yarn. It consists of several plies wool, cotton and polyamide/polyester. The several colors are fuchsia, solar, gold and burgundy. The owner of the online-shop produces the wool herself, therefore, there aren't too many skeins of each color. She also designs yarns according to your likings.

In the next post (or the one after that... or the one after that) I'll show you my current projects, and my planned projects, so stay tuned!
In the meantime I have a question for you: can someone explain the procedure of blocking knitted stuff to me? What is blocking and how do I do that?
