Yay!

I finished Josephine's collar! Boy oh boy, that was the hardest part of the whole freaking jacket! I only had to frog it about three times, but that's another story... and now I'm done! With the collar, that is. What's left is the belt (that shouldn't take too long - I hope), and then the seaming. And weaving in ends. Or, alternatively, the weaving in ends and then the seaming. Is there an order to that?

Sorry, I'm not quite in the mood for taking pictures tonight... I'd like to wait with that until the cardigan is really all done and finished. I hope to do all that this week, but who knows. So you need to have patience for a bit longer! And now I'm going to creep into bed.

The collar

The collar, the collar of Josephine is killing me. I keep misunderstanding the instructions... hopefully, I'll get it right and done tonight! And then what's left is all the seaming and weaving in of loose ends... which will only take about a trazillion years.

And then I'm going to dream of this one (probably the next nightmare). Any color recommendations (either in the original Sierra yarn or in Debbie Bliss Merino Chunky)? I'm blonde and have a light complexion, so it should suit that. I'm open for suggestions!

Still here

Had to work all week, and at night I was so exhausted that I didn't knit much at all. I had planned on blocking the back and front parts of Josephine, but not enough time. Maybe this weekend, hopefully.

Bought some yarn for a cardigan my sister wants me to make for my nephew for his christening in the end of may. Had to order some special circular needles on top of that because I couldn't get these sizes here.

Knitted a bit more on my red hot sizzling sock, but without much enthusiasm. Would like to start with the baby cardigan, but I have to wait for the needles. Didn't have the energy for taking pictures either. Hopefully soon!

Still thinking about the Starsky cardigan as well. Might not make it with the original yarn though, because the color choice isn't too big. Jordana Paige, the pattern designer, suggested substituting the original yarn with Debbie Bliss Merino Chunky... maybe. Still thinking.

Any more news..? Oh yeah, actually there are! There are two babies coming up, one from my friend Bianca in Melboure, she's expecting in August. The other one is a girl I went to school with, she's having her baby in September. I might make some booties and/or hats, but fortunately I'm not in a hurry here.
I went to Stitch'n'Bitch here in Munich last Sunday! And I'm planning on going next Sunday as well. More on this... well, some time when I have more energy.

WinterWonderLand

Picture-heavy post ahead - if you like snow, get a cup of coffee while your computer loads the photos. But I'm warning you, there ain't no knitting pictures!

I spent a long weekend at my parents' place, where we had lots of snow just like in the rest of Southern Germany. In a village near where my parents live, they had a ski jumping tournament:

The youngest contestant was only 12! These guys (and 4 girls as well) did jumps up to 98 meters (328 feet)! Can you believe it?

Another pic from the drive.

Some of you might have heard that last Sunday, Munich had 50cm (almost 20 inches!) of fresh snow. So, today I thought I'd go out for a little photoshoot, because we don't get that much snow in early March. Only every 20 years or so.

Dude, where's my car??

This is how deep the snow is - almost to my knees (and I'm quite tall for a girl)! (Yes, I did jump into the snow just to take a picture of my legs to show you how much snow there is... how snow-crazy can one get? And did I mention that I love the snow?)

Only sit on this bench if you're wearing your long john's.

Can you see the kid in this picture? Well, there used to be stairs where he stands, so you can walk up to the statue. Until the snow came... and now the kids are riding their sledges down the non-existent stairs!

This is a huge square in the middle of the city, where the Oktoberfest takes place... but now, it's only a snow desert!

And I promise you knitting content and pictures in the next post. There's quite some stuff in the pipeline!

Medals

I picked up the official gold medal:

medium_medal-web-small.jpg

And yeah, I officially suck at designing gold medal buttons!
I had something like the one up there in mind (I might have to delete this sentence later, it's too embarrassing), but I don't have enough experience with the software yet.

On the knitting front: I'm getting it on slowly; knitting a bit on the red sock I showed you the other day, and I just finished a swatch for Josephine, for the sleeves that is. I decided to make the sleeves like they are with my favorite cardigan (I showed you that one too). And I might make the Starsky cardi... a certain somebody said she would happily forward my yarn order for me, if I wanted to order with KnitPicks (thanks Christine! You're such a sweetie!) Folks, go and check out her blog. For everybody outside the US who's thinking of making Starsky as well and who would have to find a yarn substitute, I emailed Jordana Paige, the designer of Starsky, and she recommended Debbie Bliss Merino Chunky. Well, not recommended, she pointed it out as one of the possible substitutes.

Okay, that was it for tonight, I'm off to my bed. Good night!
